Your news wire, on every page.
The Truth adds a slim ticker at the bottom of normal webpages. Headlines open a newspaper-style digest on the right, without taking you away from what you were doing. It does not replace your homepage or new-tab page.
Public installation is coming soon
The Chrome Web Store listing is not connected yet. Signing in cannot install the extension, and this page will not keep sending you back to sign-in.
For owner testing, build the extension from the reviewed release on the repository’s main branch. There is no public download advertised until a reviewed store listing is available.
After installing
- Open your browser’s Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon at the top right) and pin The Truth.
- Open The Truth there and choose Sign in to start the live ticker. Your existing website session is reused when available.
- Refresh a normal webpage. The ticker appears at the bottom; click any news headline to open its digest on that page.
- Use Show bottom ticker in the extension to turn it on or off. Browser extension settings also let you disable or remove it entirely.
Testing in Chrome or Comet before the store release
To hide the ticker on just one website, open The Truth from the toolbar while visiting that site and choose Hide on this site. Return to the same toolbar menu and choose Show on this site to restore it. An active profile may also have its own hidden-site rule, shown in the menu. Only your explicit site preference is saved—not browsing history.
- Update your repository checkout to the reviewed merge commit on main, then build
apps/extension/dist. - Open your browser’s extension manager. In Chrome use
chrome://extensions; in Comet open Settings → Extensions. - For a first install, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the built
apps/extension/distfolder containingmanifest.json. For an update, rebuild that same folder and click Reload on the existing The Truth extension. - Pin The Truth, sign in once, and refresh the page where you want the ticker. A website deployment does not update an unpacked extension.
The browser requires your approval; a website cannot silently install an extension. The ticker cannot run on browser settings, store pages, or other browser-protected pages. Chrome and Comet desktop support must be checked with the packaged release; this is not an iPhone extension.
